Ties for a quarter, books for a buck, that’s how Bargain Box, Columbus’ oldest fundraiser, has raised over $2 million to support the community projects of the Junior League of Columbus. The first sale was held in 1949 and was lead by a committee of ten active members. Today, nearly all members contribute to Bargain Box, either by donating items or volunteering at the sale. Each year, the size and scope of the sale grew from a small garage sale of JLC members’ gently used merchandise to the largest sale of new and used merchandise in Columbus.
