Membership in the Junior League of Columbus is open to any woman age 22 and over in our community who shares our interest in and commitment to voluntarism as described in our mission statement. We have approximately 250 Active members, 400 Sustaining members (who have already served at least eight Active years), and 75-100 New members, or “provisionals”, who are completing a year of training to determine whether they would like to make a further commitment to become an Active Junior League member.
Some of the benefits that Junior League of Columbus members enjoy include the following:
Leadership, organizational, volunteer & community-issue based training, and opportunities to put that training into action both in their professional and/or volunteer lives. The Junior League of Columbus is committed to developing the potential of women.
Networking and social opportunities. Junior League of Columbus members live in all corners of the Columbus community. Members’ lives are enriched by the diverse and broad base of individuals, backgrounds, talents, contacts and friendships that develop through shared experiences in training, leading and volunteering.
An opportunity to make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of individuals in our community. All Junior League of Columbus active and new members volunteer in a variety of League community projects. There are volunteer opportunities to fit all schedules, interests, talents and abilities.
Decision-making ability as to the focus, direction, operation, and projects of a non-profit entity. Unlike most other non-profit volunteers, Junior League members are “owners” of the organization, lead it, having voting rights, and ultimately determine the type and quality of community services provided by the organization.
